The South Main Arts District is a paradigm of community reinvestment. The area was essentially abandoned in the late 1960s and eventually found a rebirth in the shared but heterogenous visions of artists and entrepreneurs who saw the neighborhood’s appeal and potential.
18 Main invested in South Main with the goal of expressing the culture of Memphis. We believe this historic area resonates nationally and globally through its tremendous charm and remarkable architecture.
We’re seeking successful partners who want to be creative in Memphis—people who honor and want to build on the culture of Memphis with us. Plans for these buildings totaling more than 5 million square feet are forthcoming, but they are built on the premise of appreciating a historic, authentic identity and adding to it with density and activation in a variety of ways, particularly food and beverage, hospitality, office, multi-family, and retail.
